Vimeo user Grimbot has taken the 200x Masters of the Universe pilot, and mashed it with the 80's cartoon sound effects. The results are suprisingly awesome! Take a watch, and visit the man's channel HERE
Another World (Out of This World in North America and Outer Word in Japan), is a 1991 cinematic platformer action-adventure game designed by Éric Chahi for Delphine Software. The game tells a story of Lester, a young scientist who, as a result of an experiment gone wrong, finds himself in a dangerous alien world where he is forced to fight for his survival.
Originally developed for the Amiga and Atari ST and later released for the Apple IIGS and DOS platforms, the game was widely ported to other contemporary systems. Later efforts resulted in several game engine recreations for the game that permitted it to run on modern computers, consoles and mobile phones. In 2006, Chahi independently released a 15th Anniversary Edition for modern computers, and a subsequent 20th Anniversary Edition five years later that adapted the game for numerous consoles and mobile computing platforms. Another World was highly innovative in its use of cinematic effects in both real-time and cutscenes, which earned the game praise amongst critics and commercial success. It also influenced a number of other video games and designers. It's time for another Room 113 review and this week I want to talk about something which is a bit of an anomaly. I didn't want the rest of this characters team but I had to own this figure.
The M.A.S.K. toyline ran from 1985 to 1988, releasing four official series through those years. Each series featured a group of common vehicles with the ability to transform into combat, armored vehicles. Most vehicles came with one or two drivers, and each character had a mask with a certain ability.
The first two series focused on a premise of crime-fighting between the M.A.S.K. team and the V.E.N.O.M. criminal organization. The last two series changed the premise to a racing-oriented theme, albeit still with the two teams competing against each other. All series were produced and distributed by Kenner. Each month, The Old Oilhouse Facebook Group is issued a Artistic Challenge. A theme is announced and the artists are unleashed to draw whatever comes into the darkest corners of the mind.
For November, the theme was "80's Toys, 90s Extreme". Shall we see what they came up with? |
