But here I am, watching WWE Raw trying not to type the full disgust I have for this figure all over the keyboard.
What I present here will be a diluted opinion. Giving you the full dose of it would be like drinking Ribena straight from the bottle.
As a robot Double-Clutch looks very short. He has a tall back pack which adds height. He has some nice detail revealed as a robot, a decent looking head (no light piping) and I like the robot/engine gubbins he has on his shins. Bad stuff... The arms are awful. The shoulders don't have any outward articulation so he has to keep them flat against the chest which they also don't have enough clearance to get past properly. The elbows are double jointed. However it's wasted. The ball joints are to loose and they fall of all of the time.
Boss of the Old Oilhouse Grufflock had a Double-Clutch before I did. He bought it (at a reduced price) and somewhere between opening the box up, meeting Andy (Cobra Commander TFW of Moonbase 2 fame) and heading home one of the forearms popped off and was lost forever.
It could almost be viewed as a blessing, the sculpting on the forearms is OK but they are awful. Double-Clutch is cursed with the “can't have proper arms here have a peg hole in your wrist” design, not that they'd be strong enough to hold anything any way.
Two PCC pegs are hidden in the legs and can be used to help balance the robot mode if you swing them out. The other two are hinged on the awful fore arms.
Double-Clutch has a single Power-Linx peg right on his back. It's pretty much useless.
As a car Double-Clutch looks decent, he has some nice silver flame paint apps on his hood. All of his PCC pegs are nicely tucked away, he also rolls well..... OK there isn't a lot to say about the car mode and this is probably about as positive as this review is going to get.
Let's move on to the torso mode. The sooner this is finished the better.
What makes this positioning worse is that the PCC pegs are angled back, it's like he's pushing his arms back to make his chest look bigger.
Attaching the limbs.... The legs pop on nice and easy no hassle there. The arms are their own kind of nightmare. Because the pegs don't fit well any and I mean ANY kind of pressure will pop them off those pegs. So say you were trying to attach one of the Rallybots arm drones. It would pop off it's peg you'd curse, attach the drone and then reattach the forearm. Now if you're lucky it'll stay on.
The torso mode head looks good, it was sculpted for light piping but doesn't have it.
Now obviously he is always paired with the Rallybots. They look OK (if you ignore all of the Double-Clutch flaws)
(I should not that during the writing of this review I managed to break Double-Clutch's left shoulder PCC peg. I managed to fix it and it works OK for now).
Iron army does the usual thing of making the torso look very tall but yet again the swept back PCC pegs make the arm look weird. The rotor blade on the Japanese plane needs to be moved when posing but that's about the only problem the set haves.
Like the Mobine set it looks OK but it's the torso that lets it down.
Right that's enough of that, Take those limbs off Double-Clutch!! They don't belong to you!
Before I finish talking about Double-Clutch I should mention that according to the TFWiki there was a running fix for Double-Clutch to fix the problems I've listed but from what is written there it doesn't do a very good job.
As a team they look OK, but they have some flaws, lets just get into it.
Right that's it I'm done. For every good thing about this set there are dozens of problems and flaws, if I didn't want all of the PCC line I would've avoided Double-Clutch and the Rallybots.
I'll be trying to get the United EX version but purely for completion reasons.
UUUUUURRGH, that's it. It's over, next week something infinity more enjoyable, are you ready to SLING some MUD? Huh? You get it? Yeah?? OK I'm sorry. This review has broken me.
He sometimes takes epic trips to Newcastle, and tells tales of these sagas often.
When not watching people in spandex fight each other he paints miniatures, go HERE to take a look.
