After a while slapping a different colour on an existing toy or gimmick has to end, new ideas have to come to the fore. And that's exactly what's going to happen here. Wave 3 and all of it's repaints has come to an end. How does it end? Let's find out together.

Before we start I want to go over one thing. Something that has become a standard in Transformers over the last few years is the “black repaint”. We've all seen them and I dare say we all own at least
one black repaint.
Personally I've always been a fan, starting with RID's (the original RID season) Scourge. Love that figure.

The PCC line had a “Nemesis” paint job, they chose to use it on Crankcase and the Destrons.

Picture
Crank case is a black and jade repaint of Wave 1's Huffer and as with the rest of Wave 3 there has been no re-molding done to the figure.

In his “semi-cab” mode Crankcase looks good. He has some nice “tech print” covering his truck hood and trailer hitch. The rest of the details are picked out in silver or a metallic jade, which looks especially good on his windows.
Picture
In his robot mode the repaint works well with a little touch of the tech print on his chest. Crankcase gets a mean case of red visor eyes here and he looks great with it.
Shall we move onto his torso mode?

Picture
Some of you may remember all those weeks ago I said the following about Huffer “The head REEKS of Menasor, if Huffer was repainted black he'd be spot on for it” well here it is. Look at that torso mode head and tell me it doesn't look like Menasor! Add that sweet green light piping and it's a great Torso.
Just like Huffer the torso mode is pretty good. I like how the tech print from the trailer hitch is now part of the shoulders/chest.

As usual here's some thoughts with the third party sets.
Picture
The Chaos Mobine sets matches up well! Black and more black pairs up nicely.
Picture
ron Army's OK I suppose.
I never really pair him with anyone but the Destrons any way, speaking of which....

It's Drone team time!
Picture
So Crankcase is partnered with the Destrons. Yeah that's right, the Destrons. AKA the Decepticons in Japan.
I love the fact they used that for the name of the team but enough gushing over a name,
The Destrons comprise of a Missile Carrier Drone (Right arm) and a Assault Vehicle Drone (Left leg) both repainted from Wave 1's Combaticons and a Spy Plane Drone (Left arm) and a Attack Helicopter Drone (Right leg) both repainted form Wave 1's Aerialbots. You might notice that if you mix the Destrons with the Protectobots you get the Combaticons and the Aerialbots from Wave 1.

The repaints on these guys look pretty good and I like how they share the tech print paint apps it really pulls the team together. The only way it can be done better is if you “united EX” it.

So that's it, Wave 3 is all done. Time to move onto Wave 4 where things started to get a LOT better.
Next time we look at the second of my “big 3” PCC figures, Heavytread and Groundspike!

Stu "Darkageis" Murray is a founding member of The Old Oilhouse, a lifelong transformers nut and collector of Sentai and Kamen rider in most of it's forms.

He sometimes takes epic trips to Newcastle, and tells tales of these sagas often.
When not watching people in spandex fight each other he paints miniatures, go HERE to take a look.
