This week I'm reviewing a legends figure with a mini con partner.
I'm not going back to the PCC line (not yet any way)but I am reviewing Legends class Swerve with Flanker.
For a time the legends class figures came with Minicon partners (wonder where they got that idea from?), we got the usual suspects, Prime, Bumblebee etc but we also got some re-do's of some classic G1 minibots.
Cosmos, Tailgate and this weeks subject, Swerve.
Swerve transforms from a red non descript pick up truck into a robot. He is partnered with Flanker who I'll get into later.
Swerve is molded in red and white plastic and has various paint apps. It's a good mix of colours and helps him stand out even among my limited "in hand" collection.

In his truck mode Swerve is pretty awesome. He lacks he flatbed you'd expect to have but he needs his shins and feet. There's some nicely sculpted detailon display and his windshields are picked out in a shiny gloss black. One problem I've got is his utter lack of Autobot symbol in truck mode. It's weird and I only just noticed it. I still need to order some labels for Whirl so I'll soon sort that out.
There is a peg hole right on the top of the truck and you can peg Flanker in there (or any other weapon/figure with a suitable sized peg).
Transforming Swerve into his robot mode allows you access to the greatest thing ever sculpted onto a Transformer who's name is Swerve!
His face!
That face is ripped right from the pages of MTMTE, that smirk! The only problem I have with it is the lack of paint app on the mouth makes it look a little weird. It seems like he should have his mouth open a bit but it's all white.
So the rest of robot mode Is nicely done. Some well sculpted chest and torso details and some standard articulation.
It's a good robot mode but apart from the head there isn't much to talk about really.

It's time to talk about Flanker,
Flanker transforms from a jet drone to a gun and then a robot.
He's molded in blue plastic and has a selection of white and red paint apps.

In his drone mode he ticks all of the basic boxes to represent a mix of modern military drones.
It isn't anything spectacular but you can flip out the gun handle and plug it into Swerves roof peg hole so it looks like it's flying.
Gun mode isn't a "My First Blaster" so it sucks. OK that's maybe an overreaction but it's partly true. It's not a bad gun mode, it does a quite surprisng trick to transform into the gun but it does create a problem. The body basically opens up and clips over the head to expose the triple barrelled gun barrel, it sits in place on top of the head and your first instinct will be to slide it up over the top, don't.
The paint apps on the face get scrapped up. As you'll see from the photos mine has hit pretty badly.
Robot mode really doesn't do much. The arms swing up and down and that's about it. It's got some decent sculpting and that's about it. Not a lot to say about it, I don't like it as a robot. He spends most of his time as a gun.
As a pairing these guys are ok. Flanker drags Swerve down. Swerve by himself would be a must buy. With Flanker he still is but just be aware you'll have a Mini-Con with him that doesn't live up to Swerves level.
