In Ed Boon's case he got it right the first time and stuck with it!
Ed along with artist John Tobias is responsible for the worldwide phenomenon that is Mortal Kombat.
Hailing from Chicago, Boon revived a BSc. in Mathematics and Computer science from the university of Illinois before moving into the gaming world. Starting life working for William's entertainment in their pinball department
Ed moved on to Midway games where he worked closely with designer Tobias to crate Mortal Kombat.
The game was originally set to be about Jean-Claude Van Damme but issues prevented that from happening and so an original game was created. Being huge film fans both Tobias and Boon injected the spirits of their favourite movies into the game most notable the films 'Big Trouble In Little China' and 'Enter The Dragon'. The game was groundbreaking on many levels most notably for the use of digitised actors (A feature not seen since Atari's Pit-Fighter) but for the oodles of gore and blood within the game which caused a worldwide outrage and led to the video games having age restrictions.
Ed also provides the voice of Scorpion and various other characters in the Mortal Kombat series and holds the Guinness book of records for "Longest-serving video game voice actor!".
He continues to be involved in the franchise to this day.
