Can you dig it.... SUCKAH!!!!!!!!!

It's time for another PCC review, this time we look at the beginning of the Decepticons dominance of the PCC line.
This week we looking into the last Commander 2 pack of Wave 2 Sledge and Throttler.

I feel I have a connection to a lot of the PCC line, some kind of history or story relating to how and when I got it. I really don't with Sledge and Throttler. I bought them in Wilkinson's. They might have been discounted. I really don't remember.

Sledge transforms from a “rock wheel trencher construction vehicle” to a robot and a torso.

He is mostly (almost G2 constructicon) yellow, black and some purple. Oh and he's a Decepticon.

In his Rock wheel trencher mode he has an articulated scoop arm and a spinning trencher wheel. All four of his PCC pegs are visible in this mode. Two of them help hold the tracks on to the main body so at least they serve a purpose. He has two Power-Linx pegs, one on his scoop, (which works perfectly with Throttler) and one on his cab, good for weapon mounts. Sledges alt mode really doesn't feel like a real vehicle, t feels more like a folded up robot which makes it's flaws even worse, you can even see his torso mode head from the top, it really is the worst of all of his modes. I'm not going to say much more on it because of how poor it is.

Sledge does some pretty standard things to transform into robot mode, he's nothing spectacular as a robot, he has some decent articulation and his cab does a neat folding out trick so you can use Throttler for chest armour. He's also fairly thin, there's little to no kibble hanging off him and it makes a nice change. He's not to bulky in any place. He has some nice detail sculpted in for this mode, including his face, no light piping but as usual the face is picked out in silver paint, the two plates that hide his robot face for torso mode look like some kind of cheek armour but they are out of place.
Picture
Sledges hands will not hold anything, probably due to how they transform more than anything else, he does have a peg hole under his arm which serves well enough as a way to arm mount weapons, yet again it works well with Throttler.
His PCC pegs in his legs end up being used as heels, without them he'd fall over all the time, visible but useful. His shoulder pegs are fully on view, with no purpose served.

Picture
Torso mode yet again doesn't do anything amazing for it's transformation, the head spins around and the plates fold in revealing the secondary face. The shoulders rotate 90 degrees, the arms collapse down to form shoulder pads and the legs do the same old trick we've seen before. The only thing they do differently is the feet rotate around so that his shovel toes become knee pads. The torso mode is pretty standard all round, I tend to pair him up with the spare set of Construction limbs that I have. It works well having the construction theme running through out the super mode.
Picture
Now I have a little bit of “fan mode” with the torso, I peg Throttler onto the peg on the shovel and unfold the arm. I like the idea of it being an extra limb just for drilling Autobots.
Picture
Sledge is another of the PCC torsos that I've never used with with either of the Third party sets, so the thoughts presented here are first time experiences.
Picture
Mobine works well for the most part but it does have some issues. You'll never be able to use it with Sledge in “standard” torso mode, his hips are to wide and they bash into the Mobine arms, you can either angle the hips further down or switch them back to normal robot mode. The “toes” interfere with the Mobine shin pieces a little, you could rotate them out of the way but you would lose any knee articulation you would have. The Mobine shoulders have plenty of clearance though. Even if I had more Mobine armour sets I wouldn't use them on Sledge, there are far more PCC's that look better and work better with Mobine.
Picture
I've not even got the Iron Army arms on and I'm already worried it. Here we go. OK my fears were unfounded they go on just fine. He suffers the same problems here that he did with Mobine his hips are out way to far. Urgh Just no, this doesn't work at all. I'm taking these off right away, I'll put them back on for the photos and then never do it again. Uuurgh.

Throttler time!

Throttler is one of the more interesting Mini-Cons from the PCC line. He transforms from a robot, to a drill to armour. He's a giant chunk of clear purple plastic and he's kind of awesome!

As a robot he has a decent amount of detail sculpted on him, nothing to special though, his face is picked out in silver paint and his head is painted black. Throttler has a lot of articulation but this is probably more to do with how he transforms than anything else.
Picture
As armour Throttler is OK, it look like the drill exploded from the inside more than anything else. I like it but not enough to leave him like this most of the time.
Picture
As a drill is where he really shines. Throttlers limbs swing behind him to form the drill point. His head is a peg you can use so that Sledge can hold him and he has the Power-Linx port you use to peg him onto stuff. What's really nice is that the chest is on a hinge so the drill can spin! I love this mode, LOVE IT! Most of the time he'll spin using the Power-Linx port than the chest though.

It's a shame they never reused Throttler for the later PCC's it would have been nice to twin drill stuff with them.

OK that's us done for another week. Next week we start in on the Wave 2 5 packs and we start with, to be honest, one of the worst sets in the entire line. Brace yourself for the pain, it's Double-Clutch and the Rallybots.
